Sabrina heard from someone that a must do in Bangkok was to go to the movies. I know it sounds like something you wouldn't do while in a foreign city but for less than it costs in NYC, we got VIP seats (a couch), soda and popcorn. The theater has 14 screens but they were only playing the Hobbit and Cloud Atlas in English, so we decided to see the Hobbit. We mostly wanted to stay through the previews and the salute to the king. After the previews, right before the movie starts, there is a 2 minute video honoring the king when everyone in the theater stands (see below), and we heard that if you don't stand you could be subject to a fine or jail time. The Thai commercials and previews were entertaining enough to warrant paying the price of admission.
Fish flavored chips...no thank you
The enormous theater
Video to come later...
It sounds like you really have immersed youself in the culture there. The pictures of the train and canal markets are beautiful. You really know how to take pictures. To think I had to pay Sabrina to eat sushi and now she is eating fish flavor chips! Thanks for sharing these moments with us. Be safe and keep enjoying yourself. (No questions today)
